In accordance with its Bylaws, the Westwood Community Council (WCC) shall provide an opportunity in open meetings for the public to address items of interest to the public that are within the subject matter and jurisdiction of the WCC.  Individual testimony within the Public Comment period shall be limited to two (2) minutes per person and up to ten (10) minutes per subject.  However, the WCC Chair has the discretion to modify the time allotted on each subject, to each speaker, and the number of speakers per subject.  Items may be called in any order at the discretion of the WCC Chair.  EVERY PERSON WISHING TO ADDRESS THE BOARD DURING THE MEETING MUST COMPLETE A SPEAKER’S CARD AND SUBMIT IT TO THE CHAIR OF THE COUNCIL.  The agenda is posted for public review at the Westwood Branch Public Library, 1246 Glendon Avenue, Los Angeles, CA  90024, and at http://www.westwoodcommunitycouncil.org online.  Belmont Village Westwood provides free covered self-parking in its underground garage, accessed from the driveway at 10475 Wilshire Boulevard, and also is accessible via public transportation by all bus lines serving Wilshire Boulevard.  Belmont Village Westwood, including its Town Hall Community Room, is an ADA accessible facility.

The Westwood Community Council Board (WCC) regularly meets on the THIRD TUESDAY every other month beginning in January of each year, at 7:00 p.m.  The 2017 meeting schedule is:

Belmont Village Westwood is located next to the Westwood United Methodist Church main sanctuary (east of Warner Avenue).  Free covered self-parking is available at Belmont Village Westwood in its underground garage.  From Wilshire Boulevard access the Belmont Village driveway (10475 Wilshire Boulevard), proceed under the overhang and turn right into the Belmont garage.  Park on levels P2, P3, or P4 and take the elevator in the southwest corner of the garage up to the first floor.  The Town Hall community room is located on the ground floor directly across the elevator, off the main lobby.

 

Belmont Village Westwood also is accessible via public transportation by all bus lines serving Wilshire Boulevard, including Metro Line 20.  It is located one and one-half blocks west of the Beverly Glen stop of the Metro Rapid Bus Line 720.  Belmont Village Westwood, including its Town Hall community room, is an ADA accessible facility.

Q&A with Councilmember Koretz

Councilmember Paul Koretz will discuss his vision and plans for Westwood, and issues facing our Westwood community at a meeting of the Westwood Community Council scheduled for 7 p.Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Belmont Village Westwood, 10475 Wilshire Blvd.

Post Office Issues on Agenda Sept 20

The Tuesday, September 20, 2016 meeting of the Westwood Community Council features a Special Discussion and Q&A with U.S. Postal Service representatives and Westwood community stakeholders on mail delivery, mail theft, and other postal issues. U.S.P.S. representatives will include: Ken Snavely, Los Angeles Postmaster; Edwin Mendoza, Manager, Barrington Post Office; and Angela Ferris, United States Postal Inspection Service – Mail Theft Division. (Special thanks to Janet Turner and the Office of Congressman Ted Lieu for arranging this presentation.)

UCLA Vice Chancellor to Speak at July 17 Board Meeting

UCLA’s new Administrative Vice Chancellor, Michael J. Beck, and Housing Director Peter Angelis, will be featured speakers at the July 17 meeting of the Westwood Community Council Board of Directors. They are expected to address a wide range of topics including Planning for the Olympic Games, housing needs related to increasing enrollments, and the challenges of operating a campus with a daily population larger than many small cities.  The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of Belmont Village Westwood, 10475 Wilshire Blvd. 90024.  Parking is available under the building.
