The Westwood Community Council Board voted last night to support Coucilman Paul Koretz’s opposition to two State measures that would preempt local control in zoning and land use and the City Council’s ability to regulate alcohol sales.
Both measures–SB 58 (Weiner) which allows Los Angeles and other select cities to extend alcohol sales hours from 2 a.m. until 4 a.m., and SB 50 (Weiner) which would override existing limits on density allowable in areas zoned for single-family residences– are currently before LA City Council committees.
In other action, the Board voted to amend its By-Laws to provide dedicated seats for UCLA graduate and undergraduates, which will increase the number of student seats to four (2 voting seats and 2 alternate seats) from the current two. Students had sought additional seats for two on-campus organizations but consideration of the additional seats was deferred pending applications from the organizations.
The Board’s next regular meeting is set for Tuesday, May 21 at 7 p.m., Belmont Village Westwood, Town Hall.
